Javelinas Head To North Carolina For National Meet

KINGSVILLE, Texas— Coach Ryan Dall and seven members of the Texas A&M-Kingsville men's and women's indoor track & field teams head to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Championship runs Friday to Saturday.

All-American's Jeron Robinson and Jordan Yamoah look to defend their champion titles at this meet. Robinson's mark of 2.22m (7'3-1/4") in the high jump landed him a spot in the national meet, while Yamoah's pole vault of 5.10m (16'8-3/4") earned him a mark to attend the meet as well.

Javan Gray, Michal Idziak and Tim Price are all headed to the championships as well. Gray advanced to the competition with a mark 6.97 meters (55'8-1/4") in the shot put. Idziak – an All-American last year as a freshman – posted a time of 1:53.18 in the 800-meter dash to advance. Price's time of 21:45 in the 200-meter dash earned him a berth into the national competition.

The lone two women – Amber Perry and Shykilia Sheppard – will represent the women's track & field team. Perry will compete in the 400-meter dash and try to better her time of 56.54 that helped her advance to the national meet. Sheppard's mark of 5.85 meters (19'2-1/2") in the long jump advanced her to the meet.
