NACOGDOCHES, Texas (Women's Basketball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (0-5) battles NCAA Division I member Stephen F. Austin University (3-3) for the first time since its inaugural season in an exhibition, Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. before the Javelinas head to San Antonio for a rematch versus St. Mary's University (5-2) at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4.
The Lady Jacks are 3-1 at the William R. Johnson Coliseum and are 422-117 since its opening (1974). In their first and only meeting (Feb. 2, 1978), the Lumberjacks dominated en route to a 63-33 victory over the Hogs.
The Rattlers seemed to right their ship after escaping Kingsville with a victory over the Javelinas, 80-71, last week as the No. 25 team nationally. Since then, St. Mary's defeated Colorado State-Pueblo, 51-43, and Lone Star Conference member Angelo State University, 67-62.
Ruby Robertson led the Hogs with 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds against undefeated Southeastern Oklahoma State University (7-0) but the Javelinas fell to the Savage Storm, 57-51, on Sunday afternoon.
A tough start to the season, the Javelinas continue to improve defensively. Four of its five regular season contests were against teams that received votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll or the D2SIDA Top 25 Poll.
