KINGSVILLE, Texas (Volleyball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (12-5) registered 11.0 team blocks and five service aces as the Javelinas overcame an opening set loss to defeat Our Lady of the Lake University (9-7), 22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-17, on Wednesday evening at the Gil H. Stienke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.

Donning pink uniforms in honor of Dig Pink Night sponsored by CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Kleberg, the Javelinas – who entered the contest ranked seventh in the nation with 2.35 blocks per set – featured five players with at least three blocks,
Ashley Tipps,
Stephanie Johns,
Kelsey Washington,
Casey Klobedans and
Ashley Bukowski.
Krystal Faison and Klobedans also added their fourth and third double-doubles, respectively.

"Everyone contributed tonight and we received a lot of production from multiple players," said head coach
Tanya Allen. "Defensively, we blocked and served extremely well. It was a big factor in coming back after our opening set loss."

Faison finished with 13 kills, 10 digs and five assists and Klobedans added 43 assists, 10 digs and three blocks. Washington recorded eight kills, 18 digs and four blocks, Tipps added a game-high seven blocks and Johns posted 11 kills and four blocks. Defensively,
Brett Zaccardo led the club with 19 digs and
Valarie Moehrig added six digs.

With the win, Allen is now 59-53, just nine wins shy of the Javelina program record, set by
Jane Kieschnick.

After falling in the first set, 25-22, the Javelinas held the Saints to a .042 hitting percentage to tie the game at 1-1 with a 25-16 win in set two. The offense exploded for 16 kills on 28 attempts in the third set and defeated OLLU, 25-19, to take a 2-1 advantage. Â Faison posted five kills in the fourth set as TAMUK clinched its 12
th win of the season with a 25-17 victory over the Saints.

The 72 team digs are the third most this season and the 11.0 blocks marks the fourth time that the Javelinas surpass the double digit blocks plateau in 2014.

Notes: Tanya Allen is second all-time in Javelina history with 59 wins, just nine shy of the all-time mark… the Javelinas are now 5-1 all-time versus the Saints… Kingsville improved to 7-1 on their home court and 7-0 against nonconference opponents… the Javelinas have now registered 13 double-doubles this season.
