ODESSA, Texas (Volleyball) – Brett Zaccardo recorded 19 digs but Texas A&M University-Kingsville (12-7) could not overcome the balanced offensive attack of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin (8-10) as the Falcons defeated the Javelinas in straight sets, 25-20, 25-22, 25-18, on Tuesday evening at the Falcon Dome.
UTPB recorded an attack percentage over 30 percent in its eighth win of the season, beginning the nonconference contest with a .469 hitting percentage.
For the Javelinas,
Ashley Bukowski led with 11 kills and freshman setter
Casey Klobedans registered 32 assists.
Ashley Tipps and
Stephanie Johns each posted three blocks.
Morgann Davis and Ryley Carman recorded 11 kills apiece for the Falcons and Ariana Gallardo led all players with 41 assists.
Texas A&M-Kingsville begins the second half of its Lone Star Conference schedule on Friday, Oct. 17 at Eastern New Mexico. The following day, the Javelinas head to Canyon, Texas to take on West Texas A&M.
