HOUSTON, Texas (Volleyball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (16-10) hit .309 and registered 48 kills and 51 digs en route to a dominating straight set victory over NCAA Division I program Texas Southern University (9-15) on Thursday evening at the H&PE Arena.
The Javelinas added seven service aces and six players recorded at least five kills, led by
Krystal Faison's 12 and
Ashley Bukowski's 10. Faison finished with a double-double with 12 digs and a .423 attack percentage and Bukowski was lights out, hitting a career best .556.
Brett Zaccardo led all players with 21 digs and
Casey Klobedans tallied five kills (six attempts), six digs and 41 assists.
Coming off a straight set win Tuesday versus Texas A&M International University (3-17), the Blue and Gold carried the momentum on the road and opened with a 25-20 win in set one. The Hogs continued its balanced attack, earning victories in set two, 25-16 and set three 25-18.
"I was impressed with our defensive effort tonight," said head coach
Tanya Allen. "We did a fantastic job serving tough and all of our attackers, especially Faison, attacked the ball very well."
Texas A&M-Kingsville's road trip continues tomorrow as the Javelinas return to Lone Star Conference action at A&M-Commerce at 7 p.m.
