KINGSVILLE, Texas (Volleyball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (14-9, 5-6 LSC) looked to upset the streaking Tarleton State University TexAnns (19-5, 9-4 LSC) on Friday at the Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court but TSU hit .316 in its straight set victory over the Javelinas.
With the win, Tarleton State swept the regular season series and extended its win streak to five.
Kingsville held a slim 12-10 lead in the opening set, before TSU went on a 5-0 run to take a 15-12 edge. After a TAMUK timeout, the TexAnns were on the brink of earning a first set victory 24-17, but the Javelinas fought back with two unanswered points. However, TSU clinched the first set, 25-19, on a kill.
A close second set saw both clubs trade points as the Blue and Gold looked to tie the match at 1-1. Despite rallying from behind to cut its deficit to 24-20, the Javelinas fell, 25-20, and trailed 0-2 heading into the third set.
TSU hit .455 en route to a 25-15 victory in set three to earn its ninth Lone Star Conference win of the season.
Krystal Faison finished with 13 kills and did not commit a hitting error, posting a .464 attack percentage. The freshman added eight digs.
Shaquinn Parker recorded three blocks and
Casey Klobedans led all players with 35 assists.
Hailey Roberts led the TexAnns with 20 kills and Emily Medlin registered 39 assists.
