Box Score 2 CANYON, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday dropping a Lone Star Conference match with No.-15 West Texas then rebounding for a sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma State.
The Javelinas (6-6) fell 25-23, 25-20, and 25-14 to West Texas in the first game of the day. In the second match, Kingsville rolled 25-16, 25-16, 25-17.
Against the Lady Buffs, Kingsville hit .126 in the match. West Texas, meanwhile, hit .370. The Javelinas flipped that part of the script against Southwestern. The Javelinas hit over .400 in the final two sets and finished with a .354 percentage. They limited their foe to just .165.
Kelsey Washington led the Javelinas with 11 kills in the win hitting .526. Freshman
Kayla McGlathery added a career-best nine kills. Along with
Stephanie Johns, Washington and McGlathery led the Javelinas with eight kills versus WT.
Sarah Fountain had 25 assists in the opening match and 33 in the win. Kingsville had eight aces in the win.
