Box Score LAREDO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville duo of
Rosalie Cutri and
Lindsey Mahone powered the Javelinas past Texas A&M International Saturday in a 92-86 win in double overtime.
Cutri finished with 25 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, while Mahone tallied 22 with a team-best 12 boards in the win.
Ashley Viera added 19 points.
The Javelinas trailed by as many as 21 points twice in the contest the first at 58-37 after a 3-point basket by Tina Dang with just under 16 minutes left and again at 60-39 with 15:01 left.
Kingsville erupted for a 19-2 run to cut its deficit to four. Cutri had eight points in the spurt, while Viera and
Sheana Jones knocked down treys. Jones' three made it 62-58 with just under 7:43 left in the contest.
The Javelinas tied the game with at 68 with 3:13 left on a three by Mahone. Viera gave the Javelinas a lead at 70-68 on a jumper set up by Mahone.
Mahone drive with 37 seconds left in regulation made the score 72-68 in favor of the Javelinas.
Samantha Chacon hit a trey with 21 seconds left to tie the game at 72. Chacon led all players with 32 points, which was the most by a Javelina opponent since Precious Herrin had 40 on Dec. 1, 2011.
The game went to OT as Jones missed a three.
In the first OT, Kingsville's
Michelle Wagner hit a three with 1:57 left for a 78-74 lead.
International scored the next six points take an 80-78 lead with, before Cutri forced a second OT with a drive with two seconds left.
In the second OT, Kingsville broke a tie at 82-82 before building a 6-point advantage.
The Javelinas are off until the two sides meet again in Kingsville on Dec. 14, 2013.
