Baseball Shuts Out Northwood

KINGSVILLE, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team opened up a three-game home series against Northwood University with a 4-0 victory on Friday night at Nolan Ryan Field.

Jaden Dillon (Bridge City/McNeese State) picked up the victory for the Javelinas (8-2), pitching five scoreless innings to move to 3-0 on the season. He gave up just one hit while recording eight strikeouts. Adrian De La Garza (Pearland/Alvin CC) relieved him in the sixth and Cameron Dullnig (San Antonio/Western Carolina) closed things out in the ninth for the combined shutout. De La Garza worked 3.0 innings allowing two hits and one walk while striking out five. Dullnig picked up his third save of the year by striking out two.

The Javelinas were held scoreless through the first three innings of the game until consecutive errors by the shortstop and catcher in the fourth brought home Dullnig, who got on with a walk, and Jake Mendiola (Kingsville/USC Sumter), who hit a double, previously.

The Javelinas would add two more insurance runs in the bottom of the eight, both coming off of errors as well.

The Knights had three hits in the game and left seven runners stranded. Teddy Nowell received the loss, his first of the year. The Knights are now 11-4-1.

The Javelinas have now won three straight games and have allowed only one run in the last 30 innings.

The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
