Baseball Falls Short at TAMIU

LAREDO, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team traveled to Texas A&M-International for a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon and it was the Dustdevils holding on for an 8-6 win at Jorge Haynes Field.

The Javelinas (5-2) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Dustdevils (7-3) batted around in the fourth inning scoring five times. The Hogs scored twice in the top of the fifth, but TAMIU came right back with three more runs in the bottom half of the inning.

The Javelinas received a strong starting performance from Clay Stephens (Houston/Bellaire HS) who went 3.0 innings while allowing two hits and striking out one. Adam Aspaas (San Marcos, CA/Mission Hills HS), Jeremy Flores (Victoria/Memorial HS) and Adrian De La Garza (Pearland/Pearland HS) combined to pitch 3.2 shutout innings of relief.
