Middle Blockers Pave Way for Hoggies

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team picked up a third straight victory on Thursday night at Our Lady of the Lake, 25-20, 25-20, 25-15.

The Javelinas (7-6) were led by middle blockers Laura Macek (Wilson, KS/Ellsworth HS) and Lakeshia Craft (Pflugerville/Connally HS) was they improved their record to over .500 for the first time this year.  Macek led the attack with seven kills and a .778 attack percentage while adding four blocks on defense.  Craft posted her sixth straight match with at least a .250 attack percentage with six kills and a .312 attack.  She also tied a season high with five blocks.

The Javelinas pounded out 38 kills in the match to go along with 49 digs and 11.0 team blocks.  Sondra Cui (Schertz/Steele HS) led the team with 16 assists while Giselle Carreon (Corpus Christi/Carroll HS) added 10 assists.  On defense, Kalinda Graves (Amarillo/Palo Duro HS) and Ali Insell (The Woodlands/The Woodlands HS) each had 11 digs and Stephanie Johns (Lubbock/Coronado HS) added five blocks.

The Saints (2-16) had 26 kills and a .029 attack for the match.  They had 47 digs and 3.0 team blocks.
The Javelinas are back in action on Tuesday night at Lone Star Conference rival Incarnate Word at 7 p.m.
