Softball Loses Third Game at ASU

  SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team lost a third straight game at #1 Angelo State on Saturday, 6-2. (box score)

The Belles (23-1, 3-0) scored runs in the first and second innings to take an early lead. DeeShanaLynn Tafiti drove in the first run with a two-out double in the first inning. In the second inning, Chelsey Walters drove in two runs with another two-out double in the second.

The Javelinas (13-13, 0-3) got on the board in the third inning. Lindsey Brown (Spring/Spring HS) drove in Janay Gonzalez (Alice/Alice HS) with a two-out double.

The Belles added a run in the fourth inning while the Javs scored one in the sixth inning. The Belles put the game away in the bottom of the sixth when Walters drove in two runs with a single.

Clarissa Molina pitched a complete game to earn her ninth win of the season for ASU. She allowed six hits, two runs and one walk while striking out five. Walters went 3-for-4 with four RBI’s on offense.

Amanda Arriaga (Kingsville/H.M. King HS) was tagged with the loss after pitching 6.0 innings for the Hoggies. Brown and Arriaga each had a pair of hits for the team.

The Javs are back in action on Tuesday at 11 a.m. for a doubleheader at home against Panhandle State.
