Hogs Snap Losing Streak on the Road

The Javelinas (6-10, 1-3) turned a two-point game into an 11-point half time lead in the final five minutes of the half. In the second half, the Wildcats (8-8, 0-4) cut the lead to three points on three separate occasions, but each time the Javelinas had an answer.

Javelina senior guard Antwan Mullins (Katy/Cinco Ranch HS) helped close out the game by scoring six of his game high 25 points in the final 1:23. The Hoggies closed out the game by scoring the final seven points to win going away.

The Javelinas only made one three-pointer during the game, but took advantage of a large advantage on the inside. They outscored the Wildcats 38-16 on points in the paint.

The Hoggies shot 54.2 percent from the field, a season high, made 1-of-11 three-point attempts and were 13-for-23 from the foul line. Mullins went 9-for-14 from the field, 7-for-9 from the foul line while dishing out three assists and picking up three steals. Marcus Ford (Colorado Springs, CO/Mesa Ridge HS) added 10 points and two blocks. Wayne Lovings (Round Rock/Stony Point HS) added six points and eight boards off the bench in his first appearance on the court since late December.

The Wildcats shot 37.5 percent from the field, made 3-of-14 three-point attempts and were 16-for-28 from the foul line. Eric Milam led the team with 12 points off the bench as he went 4-of-5 from the field and 4-of-5 from the foul line. Desmond Woodberry added 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Javelinas are back in action on Wednesday night at home against Midwestern State at 8 p.m.
