DURANT, OKLAHOMA – On the final day of the Lone Star Conference Softball Crossover Tournament, Texas A&M-Kingsville went 1-1 to finish the weekend 4-2 against the North Division. On Sunday, the Javelinas (16-15) defeated Cameron, 10-2 and lost to East Central, 7-1.  (Game 1, Game 2)

In the first game, the Javelinas hit a season high five home runs as they run-ruled the Aggies in five innings. Senior Ariel Lichtenberger (Alice/Alice HS) hit her fifth and sixth home runs of the tournament as she finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI’s and two homers. Lindsey Brown (Spring/Spring HS), Amanda Arriaga (Kingsville/H.M. King HS) and Yvette Berlanga (San Antonio/O’Connor HS) each added one home run apiece.

Arriaga and Berlanga each finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run, double, two RBI’s and two runs scored. Every batter in the lineup either had a base hit or an RBI. Arriaga also picked up the win after allowing only four hits and two runs while striking out two in five innings.

After winning four straight games in the Crossover Tournament the Hoggies finally met their match against the Tigers (22-10). East Central used a 5-run fourth inning to put the Hoggies away.

The Javelinas scored their lone run in the sixth inning when Cassie Anderson (Splendora/Splendora HS) hit a solo home run.

Emily Kennemer hit a grand slam and went 2-for-4 in the game to lead the Tigers. Nicole Sanchez, Shelby Simmons and Laura Loughmiller each had two hits. Randee Crockett picked up the win allowing seven hits, one run and one walk while striking out four.

Lichtenberger finished the tournament going 9-for-16 at the plate with a double, six home runs, 10 RBI’s and four walks. She posted a 1.750 slugging percentage with a .652 on base percentage.

The Javelinas are back in action on Friday at five o’clock against LSC South Division rival Abilene Christian.
