Javs Lose First Game in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team lost their first game at the St. Mary’s College Classic on Friday, 8-1 against Cameron University.  (box score)

The Javelinas (1-2) scored first in the bottom of the first inning.  Cassie Anderson (Splendora/Splendora HS) tripled to lead off the inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ariel Lichtenberger (Alice/Alice HS).  Unfortunately, that would be the extent of the team’s offense.

The Aggies (1-1) tied the game in the top of the third and then scored two in the fourth, one in the sixth and four in the seventh.  They pounded out 10 hits in the game as Amanda Karth led the team with three hits and scored two runs.  Ashton McBride had a pair of hits and drove in three runs.

Carrie Harvey pitched a complete game for the Aggies to pick up the win.  She allowed four hits, one run and two walks while striking out three.

The Javelinas are back in action on Saturday at 11 a.m. against Incarnate Word.
