
EDMOND, OKLAHOMA – The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team took two games from Central Oklahoma on Saturday, but the Bronchos got both of those back on Sunday by downing the Javelinas 4-3 and 11-0 in Lone Star Conference play. (

In the first game, it was the Javelinas (9-7, 5-7) who jumped out to the early lead. In the first inning, Clifton Thomas (San Diego, CA/El Cajon Valley HS) walked, stole second and scored on Brandon Rohr (Anaheim, CA/Orange Lutheran HS) single. They added two more in the fourth inning on a single by Ben Villafuerte (Corpus Christi/Carroll HS).
The Bronchos got on the board in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by Yost. They added another run in the fifth inning off Javelina starting pitcher Colby Schindler (Hallettsville/Hallettsville HS).
In the sixth, Schindler was pulled after a runner reached base via error with one out. In came Taylor Taska (Kingwood/Kingwood HS) who allowed a single and then recorded the second out of the inning. Taylor Brown tied the game with a single for the Bronchos. Then UCO took the lead after a walk loaded the bases and then Schoonover was hit by a pitch to bring in the winning run.
The two teams combined for nine hits in the game. Schindler went 5.1 innings allowing three hits, two earned runs and three walks while striking out five. Taska was handed the loss. Wagner picked up the win for the Bronchos by pitching a complete game allowing four hits, two earned runs and four walks while striking out four. Rohr and Brown were the only two players with more than one hit in the game.
The second game was all Bronchos as they pounded out 15 hits and 11 runs. The Javelinas managed only five hits while committing five errors. Miller pitched a complete game for the Bronchos to earn the win. He walked one and struck out five.
Dan Rogers (Redwood City, CA/Woodside HS) was tagged with the loss after allowing five unearned runs in 4.2 innings. Thomas had two hits for the Javelinas.
The Hogs are back in action on Tuesday night at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi when they take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
