
CANYON, TEXAS – After losing at Eastern New Mexico on Thursday night the Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team was in desperate need of a win at West Texas A&M on Saturday to stay in the Lone Star Conference Playoff race, but they fell in three sets 25-22, 25-17, 25-15. (

The Javelinas (9-12, 4-6) opened the match playing well. They posted a .297 attack percentage and even led 21-20 in the first set before the Lady Buffs (18-8, 10-0) took control of the match.
Freshman Bethany Friesenhahn (Poth/Poth HS) had her best offensive match of the season as she posted a team high .476 attack while leading the squad with 12 kills. Junior college transfers Laura Macek (Wilson, KS/Ellsworth HS) and Whitney Roth (Gering, NE/Gering HS) helped out Friesenhahn with a combined 15 kills and over a .300 attack. Overall, the Javs had a .192 attack with 36 kills.
For the Buffs, the win pushed their LSC winning streak to 76 consecutive matches. As a team they had 50 kills and a .364 attack. Stormi Lancaster led the team with 13 kills and a .524 attack while Lauren Thedford added 10 kills and a match high 14 digs. Erika Dupree led all players with 25 assists in the match.
The Javelinas are back in action on Sunday at Huston-Tillotson in a non-conference match.
