Javelinas Sweep TexAnns

  KINGSVILLE, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team extended its season best winning streak to seven straight matches on Thursday night with a straight set win over Lone Star Conference rival Tarleton State 25-13, 25-19, 25-17. (Box score)

The Javelinas (16-9, 5-4) played one of their best matches of the year and in the process matched their highest win total since they won 16 matches in 2002.  They posted over a .200 attack in all three sets and had 18 kills in both the second and third sets.

The Javelinas received a balanced attack with five players getting at least six kills.  Junior Sha Tramble (Houston/Clear Brook HS) led the team with 12 kills and 16 digs.  Sophomore Amanda Waclawczyk (Poth/Poth HS) added 10 kills and a team high .318 attack.  Senior Kristin Chancellor (Bellville/Bellville HS) had nine kills and a team high four blocks.

Seniors Kirby Krueger (New Braunfels/Canyon HS) and Tara Grier (Poth/Poth HS) combined for 40 assists and 21 digs.  Junior Virginia Hernandez (Katy/Katy HS) added 16 digs and freshman Ali Insell (The Woodlands/The Woodlands HS) had 11 digs.

The TexAnns (8-18, 3-6) were led by Shay Gracy who had seven kills and a .353 attack.  Shea McBrearty had a match high 21 digs.

The Javelinas are back in action next Thursday night at home against Eastern New Mexico at 7 o’clock at Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
