Javelinas Get Split Over TWU, Win Series 2-1

   Denton – Courtney Rigamonti and Morgan Seals combined for a three-hitter as the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas beat Texas Woman’s University 3-1 in game one of their Lone Star Conference doubleheader to clinch the series. TWU won the second game.

   The Javelinas are now 22-24 overall and 7-5 in the Lone Star Conference South Division.

   Rigamonti pitched the first four innings, allowed only three hits and one run. Seals came on and pitched three innings of no-hit relief to earn her third save of the season.

   The Pioneers scored a run in the bottom of the first to take the lead, but the Javelinas scored a run in the third to tie the game. Jasmine Ross singled, stole second, moved to third on a bunt and scored on a single by Cassie Anderson.

   The Javelinas won the game in the fifth with a pair of runs, both coming with two outs. With one out, Anderson singled, moved to second on a ground out and scored on a single by Shaun Bryan. Bryan then scored on a single by Julia Canales (H.M. King).

   Anderson, Bryan, Canales and Ross all had two hits apiece as the Javelinas out-hit the Pioneers 9-3.

   In game two, TWU picked up 12 hits in the 7-2 win. Anderson and Bryan again had two hits along with Ma-Lia Guerra (Falfurrias).

   Bryan hit .714 during the three game series with five hits in seven at bats with three runs batted in. Ross hit .625 (5-for-8) and Anderson (5-for-10) batted .500 as the Javelinas hit .310 during the series.
