KINGSVILLE – The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas fell in five innings to #4 ranked Angelo State 8-0 to conclude the 2008 home season. Click here for boxscore.
The Javelinas fell to 22-29 on the season with the loss and 7-8 in the Lone Star Conference South Division.
The Rambelles improved to 41-9 and 15-3 in the LSC South.
Courtney Rigamonti saw her record fall to 13-15 in 3 1/3 innings of work. She allowed five earned runs, struck out two and walked four.
Kari Galm pitched four innings for Angelo State and improved to 26-2. She allowed no runs and struck out two batters.
The Javelinas were held to just two hits, singles by Ariel Lichtenberger (Alice) and senior Julia Canales (H.M. King), playing in her final game at Hubert Field.
Angelo State loaded the bases in the second inning, but Rigamonti got a strikeout to end the inning and the scoring threat.
However, the Rambelles were able to get on the board in the third inning on a Kaycee Taylor three-run home run to right field. The Rambelles could have had more but left the bases loaded to end the inning with a 3-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth inning, Kristen Frye walked to lead off the inning and scored to make it 4-0 on a Brittney Cargill double to center field. Cargill later scored on a Macy Baker single through the right side that made it 5-0. Laura Lopez brought in Baker on a single to center field and Rachael Grimes later scored on an infield single by Leina Braxton to make it 7-0. For the third time in just four innings, the Rambelles ended the inning with the bases loaded.
Baker added a home run to left-center field in the top of the fifth to make it 8-0.
The Javelinas will finish their regular season with a three-game series in Stephenville against the Tarleton State Texanns beginning with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.
