Hogs Win Game Two, Split Series At Central Oklahoma

Edmond, Okla. -- After dropping a tough one-run decision in the opener, 7-6, the Javelinas blew out Central Oklahoma in game two, 10-4 to earn a split of the four-game weekend series.  Click here for game one boxscore.  Click here for game two boxscore.

Last year the Javelinas were swept in four games by the Bronchos, being outscored 45-15.

A&M-Kingsville is now 13-10 overall and 9-7 in the Lone Star Conference.

After seeing his 21-game hitting streak come to an end yesterday and going hitless in the opener, Chase Myrick went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, his first of the season, in game two.

Sophomore left hander Sam Strickland pitched a complete game six-hitter, allowing only one earned run while striking out four and walking just one over seven innings.

The Javelinas never trailed in the nightcap, scoring two in the first and third innings, one in the fourth, three in the sixth and two in the seventh.

The four, five, six and seven hitters in the Javelina lineup --- Owen Weaver, Wiley Crowson, Taylor Everett, and Lee Venegas combined for 9 hits and seven runs batted in.

In the first, Weaver delivered a two-out, run scoring double and was driven in on a single by Everett.

In the third, again after two outs, Crowson singled, Everett tripled to score Crowson and Venegas singled to drive in Everett.

Myrick delivered his solo home run in the fourth.

Myrick doubled in between walks to Erik Gomez and Thomas Miller in the sixth with Gomez scoring on a wild pitch and Weaver doubling with two outs to drive in Miller and Myrick.

In the seventh, Everett tripled again, Venegas singled to drive him in, moved to second on a sacrifice, stole third and scored on the throw when it got into left field.

In the opener, Josh Livingston (Corpus Christi Moody) pitched a complete game while striking out eight, but it wasn't enough.

Everett was on fire again, picking up three hits in four trips to the plate, but the Hogs left the tying and go-ahead runs on base in the seventh and went down in order in the eighth and ninth.

The Javelinas are at Texas State Wednesday before travelling to Eastern New Mexico for a four-game LSC weekend series.
