Rigamonti Pitches And Schumann Homers Javelinas To Sweep Of Eastern New Mexico

Kingsville – Junior Courtney Rigamonti (Victoria St. Joseph’s) pitched her second complete game shutout of the series and Kristin Schumann (Corpus Christi Carroll) blasted a three-run home run as the Javelinas beat Eastern New Mexico 5-0 to sweep in the three game Lone Star Conference series at Hubert Field.  Click here for boxscore.

Rigamonti, who pitched 12 scoreless innings in the series, allowed only four hits while striking out three and walkin none to improve to 6-7 on the season.

Shaun Bryan’s two-out infield single in the first drove in the first run of the game and the Javelinas put the game away with four runs in the third.

Meisha Patterson got a one-out single and then was driven in on Bryan’s double to left center.  Bryan’s two RBI day increased her team-leading total of 15.  Julia Canales (H.M. King) reached on an error and Schumann blasted a 1-1 pitch over the left field wall for her third home run of the season.

The Javelinas outscored the Zias 17-1 in the three game series and are now 10-10 on the season and 3-0 in LSC play.

   A&M-Kingsville host St. Mary’s in a double header Tuesday beginning 3:00 p.m.
