San Antonio -- The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina volleyball team continued its inconsistent nature by being swept at St. Mary's Wednesday night.
The Rattlers beat the Javelinas 30-21, 30-22 and 30-27 to improve to 3-5 while the Javelinas fell to 4-4.
Freshman Sha Tramble led the team with nine kills, Shaday Smith added eight and Kristin Chancellor had six. Kirby Krueger led the team with 22 assists and Tara Grier had a team-high 17 digs.
The Javelinas had just 39 kills to 56 for St. Mary's. The Rattlers out-hit the Javelinas .315 to .186.
"We did not show up tonight," said Javelina head coach Shannon Alvarado. "St. Mary's took advantage of that and played well.
St. Mary's started strong in all three games jumping out to leads of 5-2 in all three games with the Javelinas only grabbing the lead four times in the entire match.
Texas A&M-Kingsville will enjoy the weekend off before starting Lone Star Conference play next Thursday at home against nationally ranked West Texas A&M.
