Portales, N.M. – Sophomore pitcher Nora Aguilar (Harlingen) earned two victories and the Javelina offense bashed four home runs and 16 hits in sweeping Eastern New Mexico 8-0 and 6-4.

   The wins improved the Javelinas record to 32-16 overall and 15-7 in the Lone Star Conference while the Zias fell to 27-27 and 9-13 in league play.

   Aguilar is now 19-7 on the season and is one win away from becoming the third pitcher in Javelina history to win 20 games in a season.

  Aguilar pitched a complete game two-hitter in the opener, striking out five and walking just one.

   The Javelina offense was in high gear as A&M-Kingsville blasted four home runs.

   Sophomore Ma’lia Guerra (Falfurrias) hit a solo home run in the third, Quesha Torres hit her eighth home run of the season, a two-run shot in the fourth. Joanna Dorado hit a grand slam in the fifth and Torres hit her second home run of the game and her ninth of the season, a solo shot, one batter after Dorado’s slam.

  In the nightcap, the Javelinas scored all their runs in the fifth, scoring six runs on four hits.

   Courtney Rigamonti (Victoria St. Joseph’s) got things started with a pinch-hit, bases loaded single. Guerra then followed with a two-run double to give the Javelinas a 3-0 lead.

   Sally Lozano (H.M. King) then singled to drive in one and she and Guerra scored on a throwing error to make it 6-0.

   Aguilar had a shutout and had allowed only three hits through the first six innings, but gave up a leadoff home run and a double before being replaced by Morgan Seals. 

   The Javelinas then made a couple of errors and Seals gave up one hit and the Zias had cut the lead to 6-4 and had the bases loaded.

   Aguilar came back into the game and got Rebecca Quinones to ground out to end the game.

   The two teams wrap-up the regular season with a Saturday afternoon doubleheader.
