The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina softball team lost a pair of games at #4 Angelo State Friday night in San Angelo 6-3 and 1-0.
The Javelinas are now 28-12 and 11-3 in league play while Angelo State improved to 38-6 and 17-1 in LSC South play.
It was a meeting of the two top rated teams in the South Central Region.
Natalie Jones pitched a complete game four-hitter in game two, but the Javelinas could manage only five singles in getting shutout. ASU got a run in the first, but Jones shutdown the nation's third best hitting and sixth best scoring team over the final five innings.
In the opener, Angelo State hit three home runs, scoring three in the first and three in the third off Javelina starter Nora Aguilar.
Jones came on in relief to work three innings of one-hit, no-run relief.
Kristin Schumann had two of the Javelinas' five hits.
The same two teams will meet in a twinbill Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
