Offense Falters In Twinbill Loss To St. Mary's

   San Antonio – Nora Aguilar struck out eight a pitched a one-hitter, but was beaten by St. Mary’s in game two of a doubleheader 2-0 as the Rattlers swept the #11 ranked Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas.

   The Javelinas had six hits in the opener, but were shutout 4-0.

   The two losses dropped A&M-Kingsville to 25-10 while St. Mary’s improved to 28-14.

   Aguilar (14-4) lost for just the second time in her last 14 decisions as St. Mary’s Malissa Magee pitched shutouts in both games including a no-hitter in game two.

   Aguilar gave up a two-run home run in the first and didn’t allow a hit over her final 5 2/3 innings of work, retiring 16 of the final 17 hitters she faced.  She allowed only a two out walk in the third.

   The Javelinas had just one base runner in game two, a one out walk to Joanna Dorado in the seventh.

   In the opener the Javelinas had as many hits as the Rattlers, but couldn’t get a key hit.

   The Javelinas had two base runners on in the second and third innings and had base runners in five of the seven innings, but stranded eight base runners.

   St. Mary’s scored one in the first and three in the second with only one of those runs being earned.

   The Javelinas return to action Tuesday at home against Lindenwood College at 5:00 p.m.
