Javelina Volleyball Falls in Five to Cameron

KINGSVILLE – The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas rallied to force a fifth game, but ended up falling to the Cameron Aggies 24-30, 30-21, 30-25, 27-30 and 15-12.
“We’ve had to rally back all season long and I think we’re getting a little too comfortable with it,” coach Shannon Alvarado said. “It would be nice to stay ahead.”
The Javelinas fell to 11-10 on the season and 4-6 in Lone Star Conference play.
The Aggies improved to 11-13 and evened their conference record at 4-4.
Four Javelinas reached double-digits in kills. Shaday Smith and Sha Tramble each had 15 while Mollie Biega and Kristin Chancellor each had 13.
“Shaday Smith stepped in and did a good job for us,” Alvarado said. “She really produced for us and I’ll give her a lot of credit.”
Heidi Scheopner led the team with 40 assists while Kirby Krueger had 23.
Tara Grier led five Javelinas to reach double figures in digs with 29. Virginia Hernandez had 28, Scheopner and Krueger each had 21 and Tramble had 18.
The Javelinas next match will be on the road against Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday.
