“We needed it,” said Javelina head coach Pete Peterson. “We have been playing too passive and we just needed to let it all hang out. We played with passion today. It feels good to get one. Now we have a chance to get back in the race. We wanted to go inside tonight and we were successful. Everybody rose to the occasion.”
The Javelinas will now host three conference home games in five days, beginning with West Texas A&M Thursday night.
Texas A&M-Kingsville led 49-39 at the half and opened the second half by hitting 5 of their first 6 shots and stretch the lead to 61-45.
