Stephanie Johns joined the Texas A&M University-Kingsville volleyball coaching staff in the summer of 2015 after a sensational career as a middle blocker for the Javelinas. 2016-17 was her second season as assistant coach on the historic indoor squad and Johns is also an assistant for the inaugural beach volleyball team.

The 2016 indoor team advanced to the first ever NCAA South Central Regional Tournament and finished the season 26-10, the most wins in program history. Middle blocker Lexi Wick became the first Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region and All-American honoree.

The 2016 Javelina squad ranked fourth in Division II in kills (1,706), assists (1,602) and aces (225), and eighth in total blocks with 298. All in all, Wick was named AVCA and D2CCA All-American honorable mention, D2CCA First Team All-South Central Region, All-LSC First Team, LSC All-Tournament Team and LSC Newcomer of the Year. Johns worked primarily with middle blockers in 2015 after tallying 351 blocks and 845 kills from 2011-14. Her 287 blocks rank third on the school's all-time list and her 845 kills are eighth most in volleyball history. The Lubbock native's 287 assisted blocks are the second most in Javelina history.Â
Last season, Hutchinson registered 121 blocks as a true freshman.

In 2014, Johns set career-highs with 270 kills, a .262 attack percentage, 123 total blocks, 98 block assists and 25 solo rejections. Her block total was the sixth most in the Lone Star Conference and helped earn her second team all-conference honors. Johns was also an All-LSC honorable mention selection in 2013.
Johns earned her bachelors from Texas A&M-Kingsville in December 2015 and is working on her master's at TAMUK. She resides in Kingsville.
