Alexa Ruiz joined the Texas A&M-Kingsville coaching staff as an assistant coach in the Summer of 2023 and is entering her second season with the Javelinas.

Ruiz earned a full-time position after five consecutive years in and around the volleyball program at Kingsville dating back to 2018, where she was a member of the Javelina volleyball team under Tanya Allen-Gonzalez.. 

In her time as an assistant with Texas A&M-Kingsville, Ruiz has helped guide the Javlinas to 41 wins and a NCAA Division II tournament appearance in 2023. She has also coached two all-Americans in Nicole Murff (2022) and Ayanna Jackson (2022, 2023) as well as three first team all-conference selections for the Lone Star Conference.

As a player, Ruiz appeared in 267 sets as a defensive specialist for the Javelinas, recording 499 digs and an average of 1.87 digs per set from 2018-2021.
