Matt Pressey

For Matt Pressey, the 2018-19 campaign will represent his second year on the bench in Kingsville as a graduate assistant.

Pressey joined coach Johnny Estelle's staff after putting together a collegiate career that included two seasons at the University of Missouri from 2010-12. The Dallas native started 45 times during his two seasons in the Black and Gold, averaging 6.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. During both of Pressey's seasons in Columbia, the Tigers reached the NCAA Tournament. In 2011-12, he started every game as Mizzou rose a high as No. 3 in the national rankings and won the Big 12 Tournament title. For their efforts, the Tigers were awarded a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Pressey graduated from Missouri with a degree in General Studies.

The opening act of Pressey's collegiate career came at Navarro Junior College, where he played for Johnny Estelle. He received first-team National Junior College Athletics Association All-American honors following a sophomore season in which Navarro posted a record of 30-7 finished fourth in the NJCAA Tournament and Pressey averaged 17.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. 

The son of Liz and Paul Pressey, his full name is Paul Matthew Pressey Jr. His father, Paul, played 11 seasons in the NBA for Milwaukee, San Antonio and Golden State, followed by a coaching career that stretched from 1992-2016. Paul was an assistant on the 1998-99 San Antonio Spurs team that won the NBA Title. Matt's brother, Phil, was his teammate for two years at Missouri, spent three seasons in the NBA in Boston, Philadelphia and Phoenix from 2013-16 and played in the NBA Summer League for the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2018.
