2017: Appeared in 10 games…totaled 32 tackles, 22 assisted and 3.5 for loss…added three sacks…intercepted a pass against Tarleton on October 21…season-high five tackles twice, first against A&M-Commerce on September 23 and second against Tarleton…finished with 1.5 sacks against Simon Fraser on September 9 and West Texas A&M on October 7

2016: Appeared in all 12 games…totaled 14 tackles, seven assisted and 2.5 for loss…added 1.5 sacks and one fumble recovery…season-high four tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss, along with one fumble recovery against UT Permian Basin on October 15…finished with one sack against West Texas A&M on October 8

2015 (R-Fr.): Appeared in six games...finished with four tackles...seven yard kick-off return against West Texas A&M (10/24)

2014 (Fr.): Took redshirt to maintain freshman eligibility… named to Fall LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

High School: Three-year letterwinner at Weslaco High School… two-time district champion… team earned three bi-district titles… selected to all-state and all-district teams… also participated in basketball, track and field and powerlifting.
 
Personal: Son of Joel and Blanca Chavez… chose Texas A&M-Kingsville because it is close to home… admires his mom because she had to be both mom and dad for a while… aspires to become an FBI agent… criminology major.
