High School: Earned three varsity letters for Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, Texas… named to honorable mention team as a defensive back/return specialist… also lettered as a member of the Rough Riders’ track and field and baseball programs… ran a 4.3 40 time.
 
Personal: Son of Troy and Susan Mendez… born Sept. 21… has an older brother, Marcus, who played collegiate football at San Jose City College… aspires to become an architect… chose Texas A&M-Kingsville because he is looking forward to helping the football team becoming a leading force again and because Kingsville offered one of the best architectural programs in the nation… admires Marcus because he always played hard in multiple sports and wants to be like him… intends to major in architecture.
