Phil Serchia was announced as the new Texas A&M University-Kingsville offensive line coach on Feb. 2, 2015 by first-year head coach Daren Wilkinson. Serchia joins the Javelinas after two seasons as the running backs and tight ends coach and the special teams coordinator for Adams State University.

In his first season with the Hogs, Serchia coached Bo Villarreal to an All-Lone Star Conference second team offense accolade and Don Hansen All-Super Region Four third team selection. One of the many highlights for the big guys up front was Aundra Long, who found the endzone on a three-yard lateral at Eastern New Mexico University on a perfectly executed trick play. As the run game coordinator, he was instrumental in the growth of Greg Pitre, who ended the season as arguably the hottest player in NCAA Division II, Shawn Vasquez and Joe Te'o

Prior to coaching the Grizzlies’ backs and tight ends (2014), Serchia concluded a successful playing and coaching career at Colorado State University.

Spending four seasons (2009-13) on the CSU coaching staff as an offensive graduate assistant, Serchia worked extensively with the offensive line.

A former center for the Division I Rams from 2007-08, Serchia played alongside four future National Football League signees. The Rams appeared and earned the New Mexico Bowl title in 2008.

A Calif. native, Serchia played his first two collegiate seasons (2005-06) as a center/guard at Ventura College in Ventura, Calif. He began his college playing career by redshirting as a true freshman at the University of Wyoming.

A product of Thousand Oaks (Calif.) High School, he earned second-team all-conference honors as a senior captain, and also lettered three years in wrestling, finishing first in his league as a senior, and earned four letters in track, throwing the shot put and discus.

Serchia graduated from CSU in 2009 with a degree in health and exercise science. He also obtained a master's in educational leadership in 2013 from Colorado State. He is married to Alyssa and they have two daughters, Makena Layne and Hallie Grace, and one son, Kaden Philip.
