Coach Jeric Smith joined the Javelina football staff as the running backs coach in the Spring of 2023. 

Smith came to Kingsville after starting their collegiate coaching career at Sam Houston State in December of 2020 where he was a student assistant. 

With the Bearcats, Smith worked under head coach KC Keeler and offensive coordinator Ryan Carty during the team’s 2020 FCS National Championship title season, 2021 WAC Championship, and the program’s transition to the FBS level in 2022. 

Prior to coaching at Sam Houston State, Smith was a quarterback at Hardin Simmons as the Cowboys were nationally ranked and qualified for the playoffs in both seasons that he was on the team, finishing in the Spring of 2019 with a bachelor’s in kinesiology.
