Coach Bisch

Jamison Bisch

Coach Bisch joined the Javelina Football staff in the Spring of 2023 as the defensive coordinator.  

Throughout his career, Bisch has coached numerous student-athletes who have gone on to high-level professional careers including Gunner Olszewski (Pittsburgh Steelers), Adam Thielen (Carolina Panthers), Jordan Ta'amu (DC Defenders/St. Louis Battlehawks), Dondre Wright (Winnipeg Blue Bombers/Toronto Argonauts), Blair Smith (Edmonton Eskimos), Charbel Dabire (Saskatchewan Roughriders), Julien Laurent (Ottawa Redblacks), Shamar Busby (Saskatchewan Roughriders), John Vogeler (Ottawa Redblacks), Junior Aumavae (Dallas Cowboys/NY Jets), Kelvin Rodgers (Arena League), and Nathaniel Anderson (Montreal Alouettes). 

Before coming to Kingsville, Bisch served as the defensive coordinator at Eastern New Mexico for the 2022 season after four years at Bemidji State while serving as the defensive coordinator. 

In Portales, Bisch coached the Greyhound defense to a 24-21 win in the Wagon Wheel Rivalry over West Texas A&M. Additionally, under his guidance, ENMU’s scoring defense improved 10 points per game from the previous season with the defense also improving 14 points per game from previous season against mutual opponents. 

In the 2021 season at BSU, Bisch helped the Beavers make the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs knocking off Augustana (SD), 28-24 in the process marking the first playoff berth and win in program history. 
That year, the Beaver defense recorded 37 sacks (15th in the nation) and collected 24 takeaways (24th in the nation). In total, Bisch coached 18 All-Conference honorees, three All-Region selections, and two All-Americans with the Beavers defense, in Mikey Junker and 2018 NSIC Defensive Player of the Year, Gunner Olszewski. 

In 2019, Bisch led the defense that helped the Beavers reach an 8-3 record during the 2019 campaign. BSU's secondary was one of the premier units in the nation, ranking among the top 10 in interceptions and pass defense efficiency. As a unit, the defense averaged 20.8 points per game and boasted a 28.7 percent third-down conversion rate, which ranked 13th best in the nation. The red zone defense for the Beavers ranked fourth-best in the country at 60.7 percent. 

Before heading to Bemidji State, Bisch spent two seasons at Midland University as the Defensive Coordinator/Linebacker Coach in Fremont, Nebraska from March 2016 to February 2018. While there, Bisch oversaw the development of 15 All-GPAC (Great Plains Athletic Conference) honorees. In 2016, the Warriors program led the nation in fumbles recovered (18), while finishing third nationally in 4th down efficiency (19%). 

Prior to joining Midland, Bisch spent time at New Mexico Military Institute as the Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Back and Linebackers Coach from February 2012 to January 2016. Bisch helped NMMI to the 2013 Toro Bowl, its first bowl victory since 1999. In 2015, Bisch coached a defense that finished in the top five for forced/recovered fumbles and in the top 25 for sacks in the NJCAA. In addition to coaching roles, Bisch coordinated the NMMI youth camps and was responsible for recruiting in Louisiana, Hawaii, Virginia, Oklahoma City, Okla., St. Louis, Mo., and Las Vegas, Nev. 
 
Bisch began his coaching career as a graduate assistant and then running backs coach at Minnesota State University, Mankato from 2009-2011. As a graduate assistant, Bisch worked with defensive backs and linebackers coaching All-American CB Kelvin Rodgers in 2009 helping MSUM maket he NCAA Playoffs that season. Then 2011 was a conference championship season for the Mavericks culminating in a Mineral Water Bowl Victory.
 
Bisch earned a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Health and Human Performance Studies from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 2008. Bisch was a defensive back for the Falcons, being named captain in 2008 and earning all-conference honors in 2007 and 2008. Bisch continued his education at Minnesota State University-Mankato, where he graduated in 2011 with a Master of Arts in Physical Education, Sport Management. 

He is married to his wife Tarrah and has three sons, Ezra, Simeon, and Nehemiah.
