Bradly Chavez began his coaching career for Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2013 and enters his third season as the wide receivers coach for the Javelinas.
In his first season at TAMUK, wide receiver Robert Armstrong finished with 66 receptions in 2013, second most in the single season school history. He tied a game record with three receiving touchdowns at Eastern New Mexico on Nov. 9, 2013 and was named to the All-Lone Star Conference first team.
Prior to joining the Javelinas, he was the Defensive Coordinator for the Corpus Christi Fury for the 2013 season, a team competing in the Ultimate Indoor Football League. The Fury led the league in total defense and advanced to the Championship game in his first year as Coordinator.
Chavez played wide receiver and jack linebacker for the Kansas City Command (AFL) for two seasons, tallying 57 passes for 664 yards and 18 touchdowns. On defense, he accounted for 58 tackles, one sack, 11 pass break ups, and 3 interceptions one of which was returned for a touchdown while also forcing four fumbles. He also contributed on every special team during his tenure in Kansas City.
Chavez played eight seasons total accumulating 344 catches for 4,058 yards and over 100 touchdowns. While defensively he collected 171 tackles, 10 interceptions, 3 sacks, and forced 7 fumbles throughout his Arena Football League career.
Upon graduating from UAB, Chavez signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League.
A wide receiver for the University of Alabama-Birmingham, he appeared in 32 games and collected 51 receptions for 974 yards and three touchdowns. A trick play specialist, he connected on a 30-yard pass attempt in 2002 and in 2003, he threw a 23-yard touchdown. Throughout his collegiate career he was a part of every special team for the Blazers.
He played one season at Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi as a true freshman.
Receiving his undergraduate degree in 2005 with a major in sociology and a minor in health education, Chavez earned his master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from TAMUK in 2015. He resides in Corpus Christi, Texas and is married to the former Melica Wiley. They have two children Jovon (13) and Zoë (2).
Chavez is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity INC. and his hometown is in Satsuma, Ala.
