Burleson joined the TAMUK football program in 2018 as a graduate assistant coach.

Prior to coming to Kingsville, Burleson graduated from Sam Houston State in 2016 where he was a student assistant for two years under Kyle Segler, now the tight ends coach for Louisiana-Monroe.
