Wierzbicki joined the Javelina football staff ahead of the 2021 fall season.
Wierzbicki comes to Kingsville after spending the previous four seasons at Tyler Junior College as the Defensive Line Coach, Recruiting Coordinator and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator. Â While at TJC, he coached eight student-athletes who went on to be named All-Conference for the Apaches, coached the defensive line to 34 sacks and 92 rushing yards allowed per game in 2019, and assisted with special teams.
Part of Wierzbicki’s efforts at Tyler JC included 35 transfers to four-year programs, including 25 to NCAA Division I programs, as well as eight All-Conference defensive linemen.
Prior to his time at Tyler JC, Wierzbicki spent two seasons as a Graduate Assistant Defensive Line Coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State. There he was responsible for practice and film sessions along with game day set up and operations. He also spent a year as an Assistant Coach at Marietta Colelge in Marietta, Ohio, coaching the defensive line and tight ends.
While at SWOSU, the defense finished second in the Great American Conference with 30 sacks in back-to-back seasons in 2015 and 2016. He also coached two All-Oklahoma Sports Network honorees in T.J. Harris and Navajo Smith at SWOSU, and an All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree in Joe Ortega while at Marietta.
Before he began his coaching career, Wierzbicki was a member of a Savannah State University football team from 2010-13. He was a four-year letter winner as a defensive end and tight end and was named team captain ahead of his senior season.
Wierzbicki graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Savannah State in 2014 and complete his master’s degree from SWOSU in 2016.
