Biography

2012: Prater had four catches for 108 yards with a touchdown in five games. His first catch as a member of the Javelinas was a 51-yard touchdown against Tarleton. Prater had two catches for 52 yards against Angelo including a reception for 36 yards. He also had three kick returns for 36 yards. 2011: Prater redshirted his first year at Texas A&M-Kingsville. He showed big play ability in the spring game. Previous: Prater originally signed with the Iowa and redshirted the 2008 season. He transferred to Iowa Western Community College where he played for two years. High School: Prater was on the track, football and basketball teams at Omaha Central High School. He earned honorable mention all-state and all-district honors as a senior. He led OCHS to a state title as a senior while tallying 1,172 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns. On defense he recorded 79 tackles, one interception, four forced fumbles and eight passes defended as a defensive back. His basketball team was ranked No. 1 in the state of Nebraska. He won state championships in the 100, 200 and 400 meters and as part of 4X400 relay. He was a member of the Elite Honor Roll (3.56 or above GPA) and Rotary Honor Roll. Personal: Prater is the son of James Prater and Cynthia Fentress and is studying criminology. His twin brother, Shaun, played for Iowa.
