Portales, NM – The Javelinas win another grueling match against Eastern New Mexico, 3-2
The Javelinas Start Lone Star play 2-0 on the road against West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico. The first weekend of the conference season could not have started better for the Hogs. They put together two complete matches as they went five sets in both, winning both as they look to head home for their next three conference games. Coach Allen-Gonzalez praised the team saying "Being 2-0 is a huge Accomplishment, because this is a tough league. Every night will be a battle from here on out and I can't wait to see what we do." They had multiple stars throughout the weekend and look poised to have a big year.
The Javelinas were lead in this match by a veteran in Natalee rush as she collected 14 kills, a service ace, and added five total blocks to her season lines.
Cambelle Brammer was the other half of a dynamic duo as she added 11 kills and two blocks, both solo, to her campaign. The Javelinas had four players with over 10 digs as
Tayae-Renae Garcia fronted that group with 25 and
Kamryn Briggs was not far behind her with 18 digs of her own.
This match was back and forth from the very beginning as the Greyhounds snatched the first set 25-18, before the Javelinas set in and took the next two (25-18, 25-18) and looked to take full control. Eastern New Mexico was able to fight back in the fourth taking a slobber knocker (23-25). In the final set the Javelinas were knotted up 3-3, before rattling off seven to lead 10-3 and from there never let the Greyhounds get close as they put it away 15-9.
The Javelinas will travel back home for a loaded week with "Pack the House" on September 22
nd against Texas Woman's University, then their Youth Night on the 25
th and the Tot Clinic on the 26
