Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville traded games with Texas A&M-International, earning a 1-1 split on double-header Friday from Nolan Ryan Field.
The Javelinas (20-17, 20-17 LSC) and Dustdevils (13-24-13-24 LSC) traded blowout games after TAMIU earned a victory in game one. The Dustdevils blasted the Javelinas, 4-17 in game two before the Javelinas got them right back with an 11-1 victory in game three.
Game 1:
What could go wrong did go wrong for the Javelinas in game one, as the Dustdevils scored a season-high 17 runs with a season-high 19 hits. Every batter in the starting lineup registered at least one hit, which would begin the game with nine plated runs through the first three innings.
The Javelinas answered in the third, scoring three runs thanks to RBI singles from
Jayden Martinez and
Nick Reyes as well as an RBI from
Cade Minus. That would be the end of the rally however, as the Dustdevils blew the game wide open scoring six runs in the following three innings.
Fisher Davis knocked his first career homerun over the left-field wall, but it was too little too late as the Dustdevils ran away with game one.
Game 2:
The Javelinas would be the ones to jump out to an early lead in this game, plating the first four runs of the contest in the bottom of the second.
Sergio Galvan Jr. got the party started with an RBI-single into center field,
Landon Salinas scored a pair with a single into left field and
Travis Vlasek closed out the scoring with an RBI-single down the left-field line to make it a 4-0 ball game.
Starter
Brian Buchanan was magnificent in his first Saturday start of the season, pitching shutout baseball for four innings before letting his lone run of the game come across in the fifth. Buchanan matched a career high with seven strikeouts, and kept the red-hit Dustdevil bats at bay to keep the Hogs in front.
The contest would officially get broken open in the fourth, as Minus would rocket a double into right field that scored a pair of Javelinas to make it a 8-0 ballgame.
Braden Duff drove in Minus with an RBI-bunt single into the 3-4 gap to put the game out of reach for the Dustdevils at 9-0.
Sawyer Smith came in during the sixth, striking out a batter while not allowing any hits to wrap up the second game of the double-header.
