Monmouth, Ore. — Texas A&M-Kingsville will head to the Pacific Northwest looking to stay perfect in conference play against Western Oregon University on Saturday at McArthur Field.

The Javelinas (3-2, 3-0 LSC) are coming off their third straight conference win in wild fashion, thanks to a 21-point second-half comeback against West Texas A&M. Meanwhile, the Wolves (2-3, 0-3 LSC) are still looking for their first conference win of the season after dropping a 44-32 contest to Midwestern State last week.

After starting the season 0-2, the Javelinas are now one of four teams with an unbeaten conference record through three games of LSC play. The offense has been a major contributing factor to the newfound winning streak, averaging just over 45 points per game over the last three games. Those points can largely be attributed to Edward Chumley, who has racked up 100-plus rushing yards and two or more touchdowns in each of his last two games.

The defense has also been rounding into form under new defensive coordinator Cortez Carter, as the Javelinas currently sit atop the conference in yards allowed per game (372). Carter's defense played lights out in the second half of the previous contest against West Texas A&M, allowing just 68 yards and shutting out the Buffaloes over their final six drives.

On the other side of the ball, Western Oregon is hoping to turn its fortunes around after being predicted to finish second in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll. The Wolves' leading man and preseason player of the year, Jordan McCarty, is having a solid season, with 1,268 total yards and 14 total touchdowns. Defensively, the Wolves have been stout against the run, allowing a conference-best 114.6 yards per game. They have been gashed through the air, however, allowing the most passing yards per game in the conference (329.4).

Quick Hitters

  • The Javelinas added three sacks to their season total last week, making it 18 straight games with at least one sack.
  • The Javelina defense racked up 11 tackles for loss last week, the first time it has recorded double-digit TFLs since the 2024 season.
  • Jeremiah Conaway spearheaded the defensive effort, totaling eight tackles, two TFLs and two forced fumbles. Conaway became the first Javelina with multiple forced fumbles in one game since the 2021 season.
  • Christian Kretz had another unbelievable performance in the passing game, racking up five receptions for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including the game-winning 37-yard touchdown with 18 seconds left.
  • The offensive line has been playing incredibly well this season, ranking at the top of the LSC with only five sacks surrendered.
  • The Javelinas are also looking for their third straight win in Monmouth after winning the previous two matchups.

Kickoff for Saturday's contest is set for 3:05 p.m. CST. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the action at JavelinaFB on X.
