Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville took down Sul Ross State in two run-rule games Friday at Vernie and Blanche Hubert Field.
The Javelinas (9-8, 4-2 LSC) allowed just four hits across two games while piling up 18 runs of their own to down the Lobos (4-11, 1-5 LSC) on a cold Friday afternoon. These games served as the home opener for Texas A&M-Kingsville, after spending the past 15 games on the road.
Both Arianna Analiz and
Kristina Nash earned wins for the Javelinas, with Analiz putting on a masterclass performance in game one of the double header. The freshman from Palmview, Texas allowed just one hit and struck out 10 batters to get her third win of the season.
In game one, the Hogs jumped on the Lobos early. Scoring all eight of their runs in the first two innings.
Alexis Soliz and
AJ Jasso both finished with multiple RBI's as the Javelinas cruised to a game one victory.
Game two had a bit more drama when compared to game one, as Sul Ross State found multiple opportunities to get on the board. However, Nash was able to deal out of the jams and keep the Lobos off the board. Offensively, the Javelinas received a huge contribution from
Dakota Martinez. The sophomore notched a whopping six RBI's which included a three-run Homerun in the bottom of the fourth to blow the game wide open and run-rule the Lobos.
