Alamosa, Colorado - Texas A&M-Kingsville will hit the road for the first time this season as they travel up to Colorado to face off against Adams State on Wednesday.
The Javelinas (3-1, 0-0 Lone Star Conference) look to carry the momentum they built off of the Javelina Volleyball Classic, in which they ended the final day with two wins and only one set loss.Â
They now turn their attention to the Grizzlies (1-3, 0-0 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) in their first road contest of the season.
Adams State is coming off of a rocky start to its season, in which it finished with just one match win at the Midwestern State Invitational hosted by Midwestern state.Â
The two teams previously faced off against one-another back in 2016 at the Colorado State University-Pueblo tournament. The Javelinas would take a convincing 3-1 victory over the Grizzlies in which they won every set by nine or more points.
Last week, the Javelinas received good production from many of their new faces on the 2024 roster. Headlining this group was freshman
Nadia Pena, who secured 75 assists across her first  four career matches. Her biggest performance came against Southern Nazarene, where she notched 20 assists and 18 digs in the 3-0 win over the Storm.
Quick Hitters:
-
Ayanna Jackson is in the pursuit of history right now. The senior from San Antonio currently sits fourth in solo blocks, fifth in total blocks and seventh in kills for a career with Texas A&M-Kingsville
- Two Javelinas received all-tournament team honors last week, Jackson was joined by
Rylan Pollard for Texas A&M-Kingsville. Jackson finished the tournament with 43 kills, 1.13 blocks per set and a .432 attack percentage. Pollard would finish with 34 kills, 0.5 blocks per set and a .405 attack percentage.
