Kingsville - Long-time Javelina Athletic supporters Joan Nuesch and Randy Hughes were named Texas A&M-Kingsville Athletics Hall of Famers the department announced on Wednesday.

Nuesch and Hughes join six other inductees for the Javelina Hall of Fame class of 2026, with each inductee being announced on subsequent Wednesdays. The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Oct. 2 inside the Student Union Building ballroom.

Nuesch has been a Javelina since she was 11 years old after her family moved to Kingsville from Canada and has been one of the biggest supporters of all things Texas A&M-Kingsville. Nuesch graduated from H.M. King High School and graduated cum laude from Texas A&I in 1958.

After marrying Javelina athletic publicist and fellow Hall of Famer Fred Nuesch in 1969, she has attended Javelina athletic events in Austria, Canada, France, Germany and Mexico as well as in most states including Hawaii. She and her husband are members of the Legacy Society, the Javelina Society, the President's Circle and the Javelina Booster Club. Donations from her and her husband helped renovate the women's basketball locker room and helped pay for the renovation of the Ron Harms football locker room.

Hughes has worked with Texas A&M-Kingsville in some capacity for over forty years, working with the office of the president, the academic department, intramural sports, institutional advancement and Chief of Staff. Hughes was also formerly the executive director of Javelina Athletics from 2000-2001.

A two-time graduate from Texas A&I, Hughes began his career with San Diego ISD from 1977-1982 before returning to his alma mater. Hughes also taught a number of classes and served on numerous committees for Texas A&M-Kingsville, including the TAMUK COVID19 Response Team where he served as the chair from February 2020-July 2021.
