LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team opened up the series against Lubbock Christian with a doubleheader that saw both teams take a game to keep the series even at 1-1 with the Javelinas taking game one, 8-3, and the Lady Chaps taking game two, 9-6.
The Javelinas (17-5, 10-4 LSC) and the Lady Chaps (9-9, 8-6 LSC) meet one more time tomorrow to decide the series.
GAME ONE
The action in game one was slow-cooked, with the first runs not crossing the plate until the fifth inning as the Lady Chaps got on the board first with two runs. The Javelinas came back with an emphatic response, bringing seven runners across home plate in the sixth inning to take a commanding lead.
Lindsey Evans scored the first RBI of the day on a single to left to bring home

Kaylynne Ruiz was hit by a pitch to bring up
Dakota Martinez. Martinez came up with a huge payoff for the Javelinas, blasting a grand slam to deep center field to bring the score to 5-0.Â
Victoria Mosqueda tacked on two more runs for TAMUK as she went yard as well two batters later.
The Lady Chaps added on one more run in the bottom of the inning, but that would be all the could muster in game one as the Javelinas brought one more run across home to seal the game. Evans secured her second RBI of the day and the third home run for the Hogs in the game with a shot to left, giving the Hogs the win, 8-3.
Beth Montez (8-3) picked up credit for the win for the Javelinas while Maxine Valdez (2-5) is pegged with the loss.
GAME TWO
The scoring got going much quicker in game two as it only took two innings for the Lady Chaps to strike first, scoring five in the bottom of the second inning. The Javelinas responded once again with four runs of their own in the third to keep the gap to one run. Evans grabbed two more RBIs with a double to right field to score Gonzalez and
Rylee Oborski. Ruiz immediately followed up with a single to bring home two more runs.
Following two scoreless innings, the Lady Chaps had another big inning in the sixth, matching the Javelinas with four runs as well to make it 9-4. The Hogs musted a comeback attempt in the seventh inning, even scoring two runs, but the effort fell short in the end as the Lady Chaps split the doubleheader, 9-6.
 Aaliyah Ortiz tallied the fourth home run of the afternoon for TAMUK, picking up two RBIs for the Javelina's final runs of the game.
Carissa De Los Santos (4-2) is given the loss for TAMUK while Teoni Lamb (4-2) grabs the win for the Lady Chaps.
The Javelinas and the Lady Chaps will meet one more time to decide the series on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m.
