SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Texas A&M-Kingsville Softball Team was back in San Angelo where they would finish the series against the Angelo State Rambelles this time taking them down 7-4.
The Javelinas would start the game out strong as
Breana Carr would draw a one out walk, followed by a
Kayla Gonzales single up the middle to put two on early.
Lindsey Evans would also draw a two out walk to make it bases loaded with 2 out in the inning before
Kaylynne Ruiz would single up the middle driving in a run to make it 1-0 early heading to the bottom half.
The Rambelles would get going early also as they would get a lead off walk and stolen base followed by a single up the middle putting runners on 1
st and third with no outs. A steal would put two in scoring position before a single would drive in a run and a steal of home would add another putting it at 2-0 with only 1 out in the inning. Dropped third strike would lead to another run before a single to left would close out the first with the Rambelles up 4-1 heading into the second.
A
Jackie Garza walk would lead off the inning, followed by a
Victoria Mosqueda single would put two on for the Javelinas with one out in the inning.
Seleste Compian would draw a walk loading the bases before
Carr would drive in a run on a single past the shortstop.
Gonzales would also drive in a run via the SAC fly putting the Javelinas only down one 3-4 heading to the bottom of the 2
nd.
The bottom half would go by quickly as the Javelinas would sit down the Rambelles in order sending it to the third quickly the score still 3-4.
The Javelinas would continue to get on base in the third as
Evans would walk to lead off the inning advancing to second on a ground out putting her in scoring position with one out.
Garza would single to left scoring
Evans to put things at 4 apiece heading to the bottom of the fourth.
The Bottom half would be more of the same as the Rambelles would go three up three down once more keeping things tied at 4 heading to the 4
th.
Carr would get on once again singling to the right side before
Gonzales would gain some separation for the Javelinas knocking a 2-run Home Run putting the game at 6-4 Javelinas up heading to the bottom of the fourth.
The Rambelles would get in the hit column for the first time in two innings with a single to right before going down in order to end the 4
th with the Javelinas still up 6-4.
The top of the 5
th would see
Anissa Lechner get a one out single before the Javelinas would go down in order sending it to the bottom of the fifth with the score the same 6-4 Javelinas on top.
The bottom half would see ASU rally for two singles but a double play would end the inning sending the game into the 6
th inning Javelinas still on top 6-4.
Carr would continue her offensive production singling to center and
Aaliyah Ortiz would double to left advancing
Gonzales to third putting Javelinas on second and third with one out in the inning.
Evans would knock in an insurance run for the Javelinas sending the game to the bottom of the 6
th with the Javelinas up 7-4.
The bottom of the sixth would see two back to back walks before a double play and a fly out would end the inning keeping the Javelinas in front 7-4.
The Javelinas would go down in order in the 7
th sending things to the bottom of the inning and making it the last chance foe the Rambelles.
A two out walk would keep ASU alive but a ground out would secure the victory for the Javelinas sending them home winners taking down the #24 Rambelles 7-4.
The Javelinas are back home next time out taking on the #2 West Texas Lady Buffs with the first pitch slated for 4:00 P.M. Saturday March 16
th at Vernie and Blanche Hubert Field.
