KINGSVILLE, Texas- The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball program cruised to a 67-41 victory over Cameron in Lone Star Conference action on Saturday at the Steinke Physical Education Center while recognizing Brianna Pena, Mia Cherry, and Maeghan Palmer as a part of Senior Day. 
The Javelinas (16-10, 13-7 LSC) bested the Aggies (13-14, 10-11 LSC), with Pena leading all scores with 14 points, while the team posted a 43.6% shooting clip. Sophomores Mia Rivers and Janessa Payne each scored 10 points, with Rivers going 4-for-7 from the field and Payne knocking down three triples. 
Junior Georgia Ohiaeri hauled eight rebounds in, while freshman Alyssa O'Malley gave an impressive performance with nine points and seven boards. Fellow newcomer Shelby Ray posted seven points with six rebounds and a block, and sophomore Veyda Lake logged eight points. 
Holding a 6-5 lead early in the first quarter run, Payne sunk three consecutive triples for nine points in under two minutes while increasing the Javelina edge to eight. The Aggies then converted a pair of free throws before a 7-2 Blue and Gold spurt that saw a Lake for a 21-10 TAMUK lead at the conclusion of the frame.
After trading buckets to open the second stanza, back-to-back makes by Rivers and a Ray three-pointer put the Javelinas up 31-16 with less than five remaining in the period. The Aggies got a bucket back before TAMUK scored the quarter's final seven points for a 38-18 halftime score.
O'Malley scored five and Pena four, as the teams traded buckets throughout the third quarter, with Karley Miller knocking down a three-pointer for the Aggies resulting in a 53-30 score line entering the final frame.
Lake sunk a shot before Pena knocked down back-to-back three-pointers in a 10-2 rally that opened the fourth. Now up 63-32, the Javelinas withstood a six-score spurt by the opposition before earning a 67-41 victory.
The Javelinas will now host Texas A&M International at the SPEC on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. on Faculty Appreciation Night, representing the final home contest of the 2023 season.
