KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team heads to Denton, Texas to take on the Texas Women's University Pioneers. This matchup will finish up their weekend and also be the last road weekend set of games this 2023 season.
The Javelinas (18-6, 10-2 LSC) are heading into Saturday's match after a three sets to one victory over the Midwestern State Mustangs. The Blue and Gold are now trying to continue on their impressive win streak and possibly make a little history in the making as the Javelinas have once again been able to get to 8 wins in a row. The Javelinas in familiar territory as this is the fifth time in history they have been able to accomplish this and the third season in a row.
The Pioneers come into the match second in the conference in kills and third in hitting percentage, where the Javelinas come in at the seven spot for kills and fifth for hitting percentage.
Texas Women's (17-7, 9-4 LSC) comes into Saturday off of a three sets to one victory of their own against the TAMIU Dustdevils. They hit a .246 in the match and had two blocks on the evening, while the Dustdevils hit a .213 with 11 blocks on the night.
The Javelinas and Pioneers have met 51 total times dating back to 1987, where the Javs hold a 14-37 all-time record. The last time these squads met was the 2022 season where the Javelinas took down the Pioneers at home in a sweep three sets to none.
